Our trip to the Czech Republic (Spa triangle: Františkovy Lázně, Mariánské Lázně, Karlovy Vary)

Our 3-day tour to the Czech Republic went to the West Bohemia Spa Triangle and there were numerous visits of 3- and 4-star hotels on the program.

The West Bohemian Spa Triangle consists of the well-known towns Mariánské Lázně, Karlovy Vary and Františkovy Lázně. The places have become known through the numerous sources and the spa treatments offered.

We started with the somewhat unusual for the Czech Republic Hotel Stein near Cheb. This was also our first overnight hotel. The cozy hotel, very suitable for families, has a very special American flair. This is reflected throughout the hotel, especially in the establishment in the Salon New Mexico as well as in the Cowboy Bar. We ended the evening with country music in the salon. In the early morning it was strengthened after a hearty breakfast in the about 5 km away Franzensbad.

Františkovy Lázně is the smallest resort of the 3 spas and is located in the western part of the Egger basin, only 7 km from the German / Czech border. The first written mention of the mineral spring can be found from 1502. Today there are a total of 21 mineral springs (the most famous and oldest is the Franzensquelle) and 1 dry gas well as well as the unique sulfur and iron-rich bog.

We looked at 3 and 4 star hotels, which are not too far away from each other. Many hotels have their own and modern spa department and are located directly or not far from the spa park. We then had the pleasure of receiving a talk on cures so that we could gain a better insight into the different spa procedures and hotel facilities

After visiting the 6 selected hotels in Františkovy Lázně, the route continued towards Karlovy Vary, where we stopped in certain small towns such as Chodov, Nova Role, Ostrov, Bozi Dar.

Carlsbad has its own charm and is the most traditional place. The city was founded in the 14th century by the King of Bohemia and Roman Emperor Karel IV. According to legend, the emperor had it built immediately after the accidental discovery of the local thermal springs by his hunting succession. Today Carlsbad has 16 springs, 8 colonnades and several parks.

The highlight was the visit to the luxury hotel Pupp. Even from the outside you could recognize the noble and architectural style. Here, too, it is noticeable that the hotels place great value on offering the best for the customer, especially for a spa stay. An evening stroll along the shopping promenade and the river Ohre / Eger rounded off our exhausting but impressive day's sightseeing. The overnight stay took place in the comfort hotel Poppy Resort, a modern and comfortable hotel which is situated a bit away from the center of Karlovy Vary.

After a sufficient breakfast we continued in the early morning with our information tour. After about 50 minutes by car we reached the beautiful place Marienbad, where 13 hotel visits were on the program.

Mariánské Lázně is the youngest of the three resorts and the history of the resort dates back to about 200 years. Marienbad is one of the richest springs in the city, with 40 existing mineral springs and another 100 springs in the surrounding area. Worth seeing is the entire spa promenade with the famous colonnade and the fountain with the Singing Fountain. In the hotel complex Hvezda we tried one of the iron-bearing springs. The taste is getting used to at the beginning, but after several attempts to get used to it.

Conclusion: The places guarantee optimal recovery from stress and everyday life and offer numerous health and spa programs for the prevention and strengthening of health promotion. Cure plays a big role here and many hotels have their own spa department with medical care. The customer feels well cared for and informed about the various applications that benefit the health. Especially for the elderly, it is pleasant when the spa treatments are carried out in the hotel and thus avoid long distances.
